the list. The first pass to just list reasons for
closeness, and the second pass to develop the ratings based
on their reasons for closeness in pass one. This program
allows you to input for averaging, four managers' forms. If
you have more than four forms from your managers, then you
will have to do some work at the desk to use the routine.
Keep in mind, you can introduce bias if you average down in
the wrong manner. If you have say 12 forms, you should
total 9 of them and enter that total as 1 of the 4 entries.
To avoid the bias mentioned above you would have to answer 12
when asked how many forms you have. If you answer 4, each
of the 9 totaled would lose .055 in weight. One other area
you will need to be prepared for is where your total
operation fits on the PQ (Product Quantity) distribution
curve. If quantity is high with few products, then a
production line situation exists. On the other hand, if
there are a lot of products with low quantity then a job shop
situation exists. The areas on the curve between these two
extremes indicate modified production line or lined up
process departments or group production when viewed from high
